Environmental Policies and Targets

Presidential Environmental Policy

We believe that environmental preservation is a key social responsibility. Based on our commitment to “Purifying Air and Water with Gas Technologies,” we established the following environmental policies. We will adhere to these policies and minimize the environmental impact of all the business activities of the Taiyo Nippon Sanso group.


	1.	Abide by environmental laws and regulations.
	2.	Aggressively adopt technologies contributing to environmental preservation.
	3.	Perform educational activities to raise the environmental consciousness of each employee, and conduct activities open to participation by all employees.
	4.	Construct a company-wide environmental management system subject to continuous improvement and make concrete progress toward environmental preservation by performing related activities.

Mid- to Long-Term Goals for FY2010

In 2003, Taiyo Nippon Sanso laid out mid- to long-term initiatives with targets to be met by FY2010. Centered on the themes of preventing global warming, improving chemical management, and resource conservation/recycling, these efforts all reflect Taiyo Nippon Sanso’s concern for the environment.
Some changes were made to the mid-program. For example, targets were met for the “Energy reduction in gas production plants,” “Reduced emission of CFCs used for air separator refrigeration units” and “Reduced emissions of CFCs used for cleaning” initiatives, so new targets were set for the first two going forward from 2005. New initiatives were also added, such as “Green purchasing of office products.” We are currently working towards meeting these new targets by FY2010.
