Message from the President

As the problem of global warming continues to deepen, the world is more pressed than ever to address issues concerning the environment, natural resources, and energy. In Japan and around the world, expectations surrounding the development of new technologies and products such as solar cells and other new sources of energy, environmentally-friendly vehicles, and LEDs are rising.
In this context, the Taiyo Nippon Sanso Group is stepping up its efforts to propose total solutions based on core technologies—cryogenic, high-pressure, separation, vacuum, and gas control technologies—that the Group has developed over the years in key industries including steel, shipbuilding, chemicals, electronics, medical care, and foods. Specific products and initiatives aimed at mitigating environmental impact and saving energy include the SaanBurner combustion-type gas emissions processing unit and the SF6 gas recovery project. In all its activities, Taiyo Nippon Sanso is committed to the preservation of public security, quality, and product safety.
To cut electricity consumption during gas manufacturing—a major source of energy consumption within the Taiyo Nippon Sanso Group, we have been developing and introducing energy-efficient air separation plants, and to further reduce our environmental impact, we have been developing and adopting automobile load meters to achieve greater efficiency in product transport.
In our aim to become a company that is consistently trusted and appreciated by customers and local communities, we wish to work with all stakeholders in our group-wide efforts to pursue unique contributions that the Taiyo Nippon Sanso Group can extend to the environment and society.
We sincerely hope that this Environmental and Social Report will impart a thorough understanding of our Group’s environmental and social activities. We encourage readers to provide us with views that can be reflected in our future activities.
