Supporting Safety and Security at the Front Lines of Medical Care

Advanced Gas Technologies Respond to Needs in Medical Fields

A wide range of gases are used in medical care, such as oxygen for breathing, nitrogen as a basic material for synthetic air, and nitrous oxide for anesthesia. The importance of gas technologies in medical fields has been growing in recent years, as liquefied helium, for instance, is being used for superconducting coil cooling in MRI units, and liquefied nitrogen is being used to cryopreserve live cells, genes, and other materials. Responding to needs for medical care at various locations, the Taiyo Nippon Sanso Group not only supplies gases for medical care or equipment such as synthetic air supply systems to medical facilities but we also develop and provide all types of oxygen supply devices for home-based treatments.

Responding Promptly and Appropriately to Changes in the Medical System

With rising social demands for safety and security in medicines, the revised Pharmaceutical Affairs Act was enacted in April 2005. To clarify responsibilities concerning safety in medicines and medical devices, a new category of "manufacturing and sales enterprises" was created, and it has become the duty of companies in this category to manage safety not only in manufacturing alone but also throughout the entire business process up to distribution.
The revision impacted the medical gas field as well, calling for suppliers to take appropriate measures. Taiyo Nippon Sanso understands the main intentions of the revision and is working hard to respond promptly and appropriately by building the systems required by the law and receiving the necessary authorizations for its operations.
